About
Foreign Autoparts!
Foreign Autoparts ( FAP ) was formed in 1979 by Chris Wilkinson
in Bedminster in Bristol. He realised that the motor trade
parts supply business would have to change radically to cope
with the ever increasing numbers of foreign cars coming into
the UK especially from Japan. He was running a fast fit clutch
and brake centre and was already experiencing difficulties
in obtaining non dealer parts at competitive prices. Rob Wilkinson,
his brother opened the Gloucester branch in 1980.
Today FAP is still run by Rob plus his business partner Mike
Pollock who together have a wide experience in the motor trade.
Our aim is to supply Original Equipment ( OE ) quality products
at competitive prices to enable independent garages and service
centres to compete with main dealer franchises.
We have always prided our selves in being able to supply
the correct parts first time as incorrect part deliveries
causes delay for our customers.
Of course we rely on our many suppliers to supply us with
the correct parts information and for this reason we are in
a buying group know as the United Aftermarket Network ( UAN
). Every supplier to UAN is a champion of Original Equipment
(OE) quality products, ensuring that UAN distributors are
equipped with the best possible products, service and support
necessary to compete in the independent aftermarket.
Although our name suggests quite rightly that we specialise
in foreign cars, we also cover many ‘British’ cars as well.
One area that we continuing to expand is the ‘Grey Import’
market. These are vehicles that have been imported outside
the dealer network. The Mitsubishi Pajero is a good example,
a Shogun but with subtle differences. Through suppliers like
ADL-Blueprint we are able to supply an increasing number of
components for grey imported vehicles.
